"Welcome to a great year for AAUW! Our mission this year is as important as ever: pay equity, breaking gender barriers, having a voice in government, letting education carry us forward, and continuing our professional and personal growth into the future. Thank you for entrusting me with this opportunity. With our incredibly hard working and talented members—you!—we can look forward to a productive and illuminating year. Our two major projects, the Political Forum and the Sister to Sister workshop, highlight our mission. Our other meetings provide a series of opportunities for lifelong learning, action, and fellowship.
Bring friends, recruit new members, and come to AAUW this year; engage in “advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.” Show the younger generation the values of education—from literature to economics to science and math—and how AAUW “breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.” In this time of economic stress and political energy, let’s not forget how fellowship, local and international, can help us build networks and plan for the future. Our meetings this year touch all of those aspects of our lives.
Thank you again, for letting me lead you this year. I look forward to a productive and eventful year for our Valdosta Branch.'
